WELCOME TO KAPNICK ORCHARDS

July 22, 2019

Hello All!

Our summer is moving along quickly, strawberries harvest is now completed and tart cherries are winding down. We will have sweet cherries for 3-4 more weeks, we are just about to start our last varriety Regina. Pick your own blueberries open up today see our Pick Your Own page for more information. We are not sure if you heard but the polar vortex in January killed most of the peach crop from Lansing south, we might have a 1% crop if we are lucky. We are searching the state to try and find a few peaches to have for sale in our store. The good news is we have an awesome apple crop and we will start UPIC on August 23rd with Paula Reds. Our link to our apple upic page will be updated shortly. Our summer frozen fruit sale is now ongoing, order by August 8th for an August 12th pick up. We carry a large share of frozen fruits all year long but this sale is our best prices & has many unique items for sale.

Kapnick Orchards has been a family owned business for many years. It was founded in 1958 by Robert and Gertrude Kapnick and Charles and Janice Kapnick. Our farm market, near Tecumseh, was first opened in 1961. In 1975, Charles and Janice purchased the market from Charles' parents Robert and Gertrude Kapnick. Currently the market is operated by Sharon and Bruce Shaffer and Scott Robertello, who purchased the farm from Janice in 2001. Sharon is the daughter of Janice and Charles. In 2011, Kapnick Orchards celebrated their 50th anniversary. During the fifty years, Kapnick Orchards has seen many changes. It was transformed from a one room store to the larger operation of today.

Not only has the size grown, but also so has the product line. We have our own bakery and cider mill. Our product line includes many fruits and vegetables, and our own homemade fudge and apple butter. We also carry a great line of jams, candies and nuts. We press our own un pasteurized cider, which gives it a unique and fantastic flavor, but we also offer our cider treated with UV light as an alternative to pasteurization.

Fall is a great time at Kapnick Orchards. We offer u-pick apples and pumpkins. We conduct many school tours and have wagon rides through our Enchanted Forest. Kids love to visit, pet, and feed our farm animals. The second weekend in October is our annual Apple Festival, which is a big event in the area. At the festival, we have arts and crafts and lots of entertainment and food. It is great fun for the whole family.

Holiday time is a busy time for us at Kapnick Orchards. We custom pack a variety of fruit baskets from individuals and businesses. We also ship gift boxes throughout the United States that are filled with our own homegrown apples and other products. Both make great gifts that anyone will enjoy.

We hope that this has given you some idea as to what Kapnick Orchards is all about, and that you will visit us soon .

We are open on all holidays except for the following:
New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day
